Do ClearSale’s solutions protect merchants from item-not-received (INR) chargebacks?

ClearSale’s solutions offer full protection for fraud-related chargeback, regardless of their reason codes. Every chargeback received by the ClearSale team is subject to classification to verify if its original reason code is appropriate.

ClearSale’s solutions offer full protection for fraud-related chargeback, regardless of their reason codes. Every chargeback received by the ClearSale team is subject to classification to verify if its original reason code is appropriate. Any chargeback deemed fraudulent by ClearSale will be eligible for coverage. Therefore, if the INR chargeback was originated by a fraudulent transaction, this chargeback will be eligible for coverage. This can be the case when the merchant has a proof of delivery of its product but the credit card holder opens a chargeback saying they never received the product.

However, there are chargebacks classified under the INR reason code that are not results of fraudulent transaction, but commercial disagreements instead. These chargebacks are not eligible for coverage by ClearSale solutions. For example, if the credit card holder places the chargeback before the product delivery due date, we can’t confirm it’s a fraudulent transaction.

In summary: if it’s a fraudulent transaction, the chargeback is eligible for coverage; if it’s a commercial disagreement, the chargeback isn’t eligible, and merchants have a better chance of recovering these chargebacks by working in partnership with chargeback recovery companies.
